Grade Your Kruger Pond

Grading your coin is not difficult. Below are 7 Kruger Ponds, 6 of which have been graded by NGC.

Ungraded Kruger Pond – Low Value, Low Quality

Ungraded Kruger Pond

This is an 1892 Double Shaft Kruger Pond. To an untrained eye, it may look like it’s in good condition, but President Kruger's hair has been worn away. There are thousands of Kruger Ponds in this condition.

VF35 Graded Kruger Pond

VF35 Kruger Pond

This coin was graded VF35 by NGC. Although below the typical collector threshold, it's still more desirable than an ungraded, heavily worn coin due to the remaining detail, particularly in the hair.

XF45 Graded Kruger Pond

XF45 Kruger Pond

This XF45 grade represents the entry-level for collectible Kruger Ponds. Note the improved hair detail. However, the visible scratch on Kruger’s shoulder may have prevented a higher grade.

AU53 Graded Kruger Pond

AU53 Kruger Pond

AU stands for “Almost Uncirculated.” This AU53 coin has more refined detail, particularly in the beard, compared to the XF45. It is a highly collectible grade.

AU55 Graded Kruger Pond

AU55 Kruger Pond

This AU55 features improved beard definition. While the AU53 has better hair detail, the AU55 has a clearer jacket, likely giving it the edge in grading.

AU58 Graded Kruger Pond

AU58 Kruger Pond

The AU58 is near mint condition. Both the beard and hair are more sharply defined compared to the AU55.

MS63 Graded Kruger Pond

MS63 Kruger Pond

This MS63 (Mint State) Kruger Pond is a high-grade coin. The hair and beard are fully visible and the coin fields are free of significant marks.
